Stay away from Mattress Giant in Altamonte Springs, FL!

Called the store in Altamonte Springs,FL to inquire about delivery and price-matching. The man who answered was so rude! Said he wouldn't match anything unless he felt justified to do so. Then, he proceeded to talk to me as if he was trying to explain something to a 5-year-old!. Mind you,I am not ***--I was only asking a few simple questions. He said delivery costs $69.99 and that other stores charge much less because they have defective mattresses (uh,they sell the same brands/styles!). I ended up hanging up on him because he made me feel like I was bothering him with my questions. I am so

Mattress Giant is the absolute WORST

Absolutely the WORST company I have ever dealt with. I am not the complaining-type of consumer by any means- this is my first time I have even tried to give a bad review about anything. I feel it is absolutely necessary for me to speak up now, as I have been screwed for such a hefty sum. I bought the most expensive mattress/ set that this company offered- less than 1 year ago. I have been riddled with back and hip problems for years, getting therapy and everything. As a result, I thought buying a very expensive mattress would help me sleep at least PART of the night (without waking in pain). The mattress I bought was the 'Collamore Europlush' and it cost me over $3500. The snake- oil salesman assured me it was the single best seller the company had. He also assured me it was such a 'quality' product, and that they offer a 20 year warranty (as opposed to 10- which is what most mattress carry). When I asked him why I should buy from his store rather than go right next door to Jordan's (or any other company) he assured me it was the 'quality of thier customer service that sets them apart'. Absolutely a lie, as I would soon find out. I thought the original price of $4200 was just a bit pricey, and simply asked if he had a deal to throw in a free pillow or seomthing.... At that point he offered immediately to give us the frame and bedsprings free- savings of over $1000 cash, PLUS gave us free pillows and a mattress pad. Obviously anyone who pays sticker price here is a total sucker, as they have these built in discounts/ scams that seem just plain fraudulent. I was hardly expecting (much less asking) for such a huge price reduction. I think it shows how dishonest this company is- right from the start. Anyway, they delivered the set on time as promised. The delivery company, in and of itself, is deserving of thier own complaint. I was absolutely frightened- to say the least- by the what showed up. The total process took well over an hour, which probably could have been done in 20 minutes by a legitimate moving company. (They also broke a piece of moulding off my antique bannister) After only 1 night sleeping on this bed, my wife and I noticed a sag. It was not even slight- it honestly felt as though a 700- pound person had slept in the middle of this bed for 10 years, and THEN we received it. We called to complain, and after 3 miserable weeks returned this mattress. The slick salesman convinced us it was but a fluke, and that another mattress would surely be correct. He also insisted we could return the mattresses (under warranty) as many times as needed, and still NOT affect our '90- day comfort exchange'. We received a new mattress roughly 1 month after the first was delivered. Came on time, with an equally lousy experience. After another terrifying hour+ of smashing around my house, the new mattress was in place. This one was noticeably more straight than the first. After about 1 blissful week, ONE side of this mattress was sagging- noticeably. We thought it was our imagination, and tried ignoring it, but it only became more pronounced. Mattress Giant would not take this mattress back. They offer only one way to prove the mattress is sagging, and because it is only one side that is flawed, we fail the test. Somehow WE are not right here in our suffering, and the Giant will not acknowledge that we have yet another defective Mattress. This obviously means we are lying about our discomfort, and are somehow trying to affect thier ability to turn a profit. We tried to complain again, and one week before our '90- day comfort exchange' period was up, we planned to return the mattress for a different one (yet another scam in and of itself: this company messes with the invoice so that the actual discount is not free springs and frame, but a discounted mattress- which means to swap this mattress for another one would entail us paying a LOT more cash- for a less expensive bed!!) When I called the store to inform them I wanted to just get another bed, (since this was obviously NOT a fluke, as promised, but a legitimate DEFECT), they told us we were 'NOT ALLOWED TO RETURN THE MATTRESS FOR A COMFORT ISSUE, SINCE WE ALREADY RETURNED IT FOR A WARRANTY ISSUE... Meaning the original salesman lied to us- surprise!! As a result, my wife and I paid over $3500 to sleep in a bed which requires we swap sides every night, so that the same person doesn't suffer regularly. It seems absolutely impossible that I would go to a store, buy the most expensive mattress they have, and be stuck suffering with a defect. I have even tried selling the mattress- under the assumption that it was NOT defective (as Mattress Giant insists), and was actually YELLED at by a potential buyer for trying to sell HIM a defective item!! The bottom line is this: buying from this company is at your own risk- at best. If you are fortunate to get through the pricing scam, without paying the 'sucker-price', and don't have anything bad happen by the delivery 'service', you can expect that Mattress Giant will absolutely lie and do everything in thier power to NOT make good on thier promises or policies. (and good luck calling thier 'customer service' hotline... they answer 'hello', and then give you a scary attitude while providing no help... I was convinced the 800- number leads to a jailcell someplace...) I wasted $3500+ on a bed that is SO obviously defective that my wife and I are forced to ALTERNATE SIDES nightly just to minimize each others' suffering. (with my existing back and hip problems so bad, when it is my turn to be on the DEFECTIVE side, I end up on the couch within an hour or two)

My fiance' and I are having the same problems, however we cannot sleep in the bed and have to sleep seperately. He's 6'7 and is sleeping in our cheap queen size bed in the guest room.

I have fibromyalgia, neuralgia and neuropothy with back problems as well. Our first two mattresses were defective, so we purchased a more expensive mattress and was told that "this is the mattress that is recommended for your conditions, my fiance' has back issues as well. So, $3,900.00 and 1 month later, we called and told the rep that the mattress has a huge dip in the middle and sags on the sides. He went on to tell him that it is so bad that we both roll toward the middle of the bed when we try to sleep.

He advised us that "the type of mattress we have has to be broken into so give it 6 months, after what seemed like hours on the phone he reluctantly agreed. My fiance'called him back in less than 3 weeks, to our surprise, he no longer worked the and it was now called Mattress Giant. We originally purchased from Clearwater mattress. We were advised to submit pictures and a warrenty claim.

That's all fine and good so I proceeded to do that, I spoke to a manager at another store and was told she would help me with the process. I thought this was great! Finally, I'm getting somewhere!!!! NOT, I received a call from her about a week later and she said she couldn't do anything because my receipt showed zero dollar amount paid!!!!

I said well, that is what they gave me and do you think I would walk in one of your stores and get a FREE mattress? Well, there is nothing I can do for you. I said well you can get me my original receipt, you do have my name and an invoice number on that piece of paper. She then advised me she couldn't do that, I would have to file my claim AFTER I FOUND MY RECEIPT!!!!!Go figure.

I cannot believe the lying, cheating, dishonest people that can take someones money, knowing they sell a defective product! Our relationship is being ruined over a *** mattress and the fact we cannot recover the monies that were put out to purchase a mattress from a more reputible company....NEVER AGAIN

excuse me but what does "not defective enough" mean? if u ask me that sounds like bull!!!!

i was on this site for the purpose of shopping for a new bed but now... just the very thought of sum1 saying my bed is not defective enough is all the reason i need to look else where!!!

Guest

As much as i hated that place, your issue is not with them, the person that looked at your mattress is a 3rd party company that is non-bias and they determin if the mattress is defective or not. It may be defective but just not defective enough to warrant a claim. MG has no control over this situation, All they do is submit the claim.

The below comment is not written by Neanie - I typed that in in the name box by accident - I meant to type in William.

Guest

Neanie, all king-size mattresses will get a hill in the middle if you don't rotate the mattress 90 degrees every month for the first 6 months that you're sleeping on it. This will happen to any king-size mattress of any brand from any store. I am a mattress salesperson - I tell all my clients about this.

Guest

We bought a king size spring air mattress that after one year has a hill in the middle. Mattress thinks that this is ok because when a mattress specialist came to measure the hill it was not a 1.5 difference with no one on the bed.

So they will not give us a new mattress. But when you are in the bed you have to roll over a hill to get to the other side.

Horrible salespersons from Matress Giant

I was looking for a matress because of my back pain. I went to matress giant to find a matress for my pain and the salesperson pushed me so much I feared to say "NO"! So I bought a matress and he assured me my pain would dissapear. But nothing changed so I went back to exchange it and he was so furious. The price difference was $150.00 less than my first purchase. But I still went back to the store and they put me with an even ruder employee and he told me talk to wellsfargo. I sent them a letter as well no diference nothing was solved. So I lost my money. Never will I return and now I see why the place was deserted (because no one wants rude saleapersons or lose their hard-earned money.)

i still do not see any response to my 6/25 e mail to you about the sales person with alcohol on her breath and the language, only a sailor would like, if you have not terminated this person by now than i guess your whole sales force, including the managers, are the same way, what a pity i guess you try to *** the people any way you can

Guest

if that person mentioned with the smell of alcohol and bad language is still employed by your company than i would be afraid to even walk into your store let alone, buy a somewhat major purchase from your company. i am in sales myself and one bad apple can spoil the whole basket.

i would love to see your comment on this on. unless you allow this type of behavior from going on.

Guest

I just visited a mattress store today and met an woman "who gave me her card " by the name of Linde. Her breathe smelled of alcohol and I was very offended by her mannerism and language she used.

I am a very religious person and was not impressed by her unprofessionalism. I'm going to purchase a mattress at another company.

Because if you condone this type of behavior I do not need to deal with your company. You do not need to get back to me as I am very disatisfied and will not seek merchandise from your company

Guest

I JUST MOVED IN TO THE CARROLLWOOD FL. AREA.

I LOOKED UP A MATTRESS STORE CLOSE TO ME I FOUND A MATTRESS GIANT IN A SMALL SHOPPING CENTER I FIGURED THIS WOULD BE A NICE PLACE TO PURCHASE A MATTRESS AND BOX SPRING I LIKED ONE OF THE HEAD BOARDS TOO. AFTER BEING IN THE STORE FOR FIVE MINUTES THE WOMAN LEFT ME FOR ANOTHER CUSTOMER WHO JUST WALKED IN WITHOUT ANY REASON AFTER ABOUT BEING IGNORED FOR SOME 7 TO 8 MINUTES I LEFT AND WENT TO ANOTHER MATTRESS STORE NOT A MATTRESS GIANT AND PURCHASED THE WHOLE SET .

I SPENT NEARLY $4500.00 THE YOUNG MAN WAS VERY NICE SO THATS WHY HE GOT THE SALE. A VERY PISSED OFF CUSTOMER

Guest

It's funny all of these were dated 8-2010 and 11-2010 and that has not happened yet, and then # 2 written by zach was a sales associate and in # 3 he was a customer. DUH

Guest

Why would anyone purchase a bed from a compnay that has a D rating with the BBB just asking for trouble there

Guest

Well Afran, i am a sales associate with Mattress Giant and am sorry you had the unpleasant experience with us. I wish i had been the one to greet you, we are professionally trained on sleep.

Not just mattresses. However occasionally you will run into an unprofessional salesperson in any retail company. We give a 21-90 day comfort guarantee.

You can exchange for EQUAL or GREATER VALUE, so therefore the fact that you chose one $150 less is your choice loss. They do not refund in the mattress industry.

Guest

I bought and had no problem, i didn't make the right decision the first time but the salesperson was kind and helped me choose a different one. You have up to 90 days, they charge you $159.99 but they will exchange it.

Mattress Giant has struck again

Mattress Giant has struck again. I purchased a mattress from this company about 4 years ago. This mattress warranty will replace my mattress but mattress giant is asking for another delivery fee and the quality of service I am recieving is funk! I hae left messages for the VP to call me, his assistant to call me - the store manager is rude and could careless about the consumer. I was promised a mattress delived today but infact the warehouse did not know this. I called the manager back to discuss this matter when he stated "I could talk to someone else he could careless" I will never deal with this company again. I would advise everyone to stay away from the staff and the store.

I too was taken by the Mattress Giant in Irving that is no longer in business. After reading the numerous complaints I am convinced they are selling used mattresses that all sag in the middle.

I am notifying the company brand, the state Attorney General and feel the Feds need to be involved in getting this place shut down permanently.

Guest

I don't have the same complaints as the folks above. My complaint is this: I bought a queen-sized mattress from MG in September for $800.

By December, there was a god awful squeaking noise. I went through the proper channels and an inspector came out to, well, inspect. He found that the squeak was legit and went on his merry way. I contacted the company shortly afterwards and was told that I would, in fact, be issued a credit to replace the bad mattress...for $427.33.

They told me to go into the showroom and pick out anything I wanted.

Yup, you guessed it, they don't still carry my mattress and have no mattress (even the terrible ghetto firm styles) that are less than $899. Where does that leave me?

Guest

As far as delivery on a warranty goes. MG charges for it because its not MG's fault the bed was bad.

Its the company who made it. The warranty is from the manufacture, so the claim goes through the manufatcure but MG delivers it. thats why they charge.

Either that or you can drive to the factory and pick it up yourself. but go forbid fat *** america gets off the couch to do that

Guest

OK, 99% of what people are complaining about is the poor quailty bed they got and then the problems they have when a warranty claim is denied. the fact is the MATTRESS GIANT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

All they do is submit the claim for you. Mattress Giant does not make beds, they sell name brands. Igf the bed sucks, dont blame MG. Thats it.

If you buy a *** bed then it will sag, if you dont have a waterproof cover on it then it will sag for you sweating in it all night. And dont think you dont sweat because EVERYONE sweats on average of 23 gallons a year. THAT RUINS BEDS. BTW READ THE PAPERWORK before you sign it.

Everything is there you just dont care to read it or listen when we tell you anything. You will sleep like *** the first few weeks. Thats not mattress giants fault. Thats natures fault.

No mattrer the bed, its different than what you have been on, it takes some time to get use to it. God, you people are insane

Guest

Exact same thing happened to me this morning. Bought a mattress not even 2 years ago and it had a 4 inch sag in it within a year.

Took forever to file the warranty because every email you get is asking for more picture. After 6 months, my warranty went through and I was able to pick out my new mattress last week. We picked the first one up but they wanted to deliver this one for $70. After much segueing and the mention of a $5000 mattress from 3 years ago, they agreed to knock the delivery fee off.

They called the night before it was to be delivered to tell me it wouldn't be until Tuesday (supposed to come on Friday) but I had already taken Friday off just for this mattress and I wasn't about to take Tuesday off too. They brought it this mornin and it's garbage.

My $100 walmart futon is more comfortable than this $1200 mattress. I would rather have my saggy old mattress back than keep this thing.

Guest

We as salespeople are humans too. We do make mistakes just like everybody else.

Why is it that people only complain so much about Mattress salespeople, why not complain about that bad pizza you had or better yet why not complain about that waiter who spitted in your food.

All I am saying is people who usually complain so much about buying a mattress and had a bad experience are the ones who did not listen to anything that salesperson suggested at Mattress Giant. Next time when you go shop for a mattress at Mattress Giant please listen to the salesperson because they know what they are talking about, if you think you are the expert at buying a mattress THINK AGAIN.

Guest

So, the Stearns and Foster set I got after the Simmons BeautyRest sunk on me after 4 years, is also a piece of junk. I thought Stearns and Foster was supposed to be "top of the line", but my mattress has started sinking after only 5 months of sleeping on it.

They are sending someone out to take a look at it and will then decide if they want to process a warranty claim and exchange for a new mattress.

Frankly, I wish I never did business with this company. Waste of time and money!

Guest

i but a queen, full and twin. For me my boyfriend and daughter. All three are supposed to be Simmons beauty-rest.Do you think they are?

NO!!! they are not. Joe my boyfriend bargained with the price of the mattresses and made it clear my full and Savannah's my daughters bed are not going to be switched to lower gain mattresses do to the fact i have a temper and if i am uncomfortable it ='s angry. So my lovable sweet told these people that they brought two beatysleeper(worlds most uncomfortable beds). To return them we now would have to pay the different and pick up cost delivery feast all over again.

My boyfriend said that is *** so i said you can sleep on my bed till you pay the different. Since my daughter if 2 she sometimes wets the bed so Savannah and i got 10 year warrens.

well they DON'T work my and daughter freak act of god peed all over that bed witch i take that to mean that it these beds suck well now i have to get my bed and my daughter's bed cleaned god these people just like to *** with me it is there fault so they should pay the dumb *** :cry :( :? :( :( :( So angry at Don't go to orange city, Saxon blvd and talk to a guy named Matt he'll cheat up out of what you want and money.

Guest

I purchased a Simmons Beautyrest from Mattress Expo 4 years ago and recently noticed it was sinking. I started to do some research and found tons of negative comments online about Mattress Giant, so I figured I was going to have to pay full price for a mattress elsewhere.

I learned that Mattress Expo was bought by Mattress Giant, so I went to the store and was told they purge their records after 3 years. I called the warranty claims number and was told the company didn't have records, so unless I had my receipt they couldn't help me. Everyone was nice so far even though I wasn't happy with what I was hearing. I somehow found the receipt and after taking pictures and submitting them to the warrany claims division, I received an email the following day that my warranty claim was approved.

Keith in the Buckhead Atlanta store was very nice and helped me pick out a new mattress. Unfortunately, when it arrived it felt way too firm for me, so I paid $159 or so to exchange it and a Stearns and Foster Berkley Lake Plush was delivered the next day. Perfect mattress! I was not charged delivery and Keith made the experience positive.

I would highly recommend going to this store to see him.

Also, they had a huge sale which made it affordable for me to purchase this particular mattress. The sale runs through Labor Day!

Guest

I have already entered my complaint about Mattress Giant. There were six months of nightmare.

Finally I got in touch with the Regional Manager and I told him that I have been taking pictures of the three, yes three mattresses that they sent to me in six months. I also told him of the complaints entered on the internet. He had no idea there was such thing..oh really? Anyway after I told him that he told me that the company would pickup my mattress and I would be refunded in full as soon as the mattress arrived in the store.

To my surprise they did refund me right away. So, here's why I'm entering this now. If anyone starts a class action against this company please contact me.

I went thru so much *** with them that I think I deserve more than just my refund. You can reach me at my email address: bheygirl@***.com.Good luck and thank you.

Mattress Firm--League City location (near Houston)

Horrible. I shopped at Mattress Giant ten years ago, and my experience was not great. I got a mattress that was extremely overpriced and of poor quality. So this time I decided to go to Mattress Firm (for two mattress sets this time) instead after doing MUCH research on chains, types of mattresses, etc. You name it, I looked in to it. I went to two Mattress Firm locations, and both salespeople insisted that I try a mattress that I knew was not going to help my back. So I decided to try another Mattress Firm location, and my experience started off pleasant enough. I was showed what I needed, so I made my decision and purchased what I needed. The problem was the competency of the associates. Here's the rundown: the wrong model on the first mattress was ordered/delivered; the wrong size was ordered on the second mattress; I was told that the one exchange that they allow would be for the size of the second mattress even though it was not my mistake; there was not a full bed frame in stock at that store, so they would not be able to bring me the full frame that the new mattress required--the manager told me to go to another store (while I was supposed to be at home waiting for the delivery!) and get the correct size frame MYSELF; I had to buy another one of their supposed "protective" cover for the new mattress size even though the wrong size mattress was ordered; I had to contact the regional manager for a solution even though the associate I talked to on the phone who was trying to coordinate all of this for me asked me not to contact the regional manager before I contacted the store manager so that I wouldn't get the store manager "in trouble." There is so much more I could write, but I think you get the jist. Two mattress sets that were scheduled to be delivered on the same day ended up taking three deliveries to get completed. I will not return to any Mattress Firm store. Pretty sad because I do like the mattresses we bought, but it was not worth the hassle it took to get what I wanted. The company needs to research improved customer service techniques and implement them if they expect to start receiving positive feedback from its customers.

Scooby is the man, I x I'd trade you in too...

My ex-BF worked at Mattress Firm. He told me about some of the great customer service they gave.

If they didn't have something in stock they would roll the dice and give you something else-of course a lesser quality. If you noticed, they would fix the problem a couple days later with another delivery (might be what happened here).

If you didn't notice....your fault. He left the company to get a job with a little more integrity....he sells used cars now!

Guest

I just have to say that I do feel bad for you that you had to go through all the hassle. But look it sounds like they tried to help you.

If you problem got to the "Regional Manager" then you really have a problem. Most of the time it would get worked out at a store level. You put the company on your black list so to speak when I can tell you that there are companies out there that would not give a *** about your problem you had with them, and just say sorry and have a nice day. Be glad they helped you.

What more did you want? So what they made a mistake and delivered that wrong mattress, it really not a big deal.

I only think you made a bigger deal out of it then it really was. Sorry but I think it's true.

Guest

I'm sure where you work, there is some *** that can't do anything right, but somehow evades termination. Listen.

With stores accross the country, I doubt they need to "start to expect positive feedback". You don't get that big without a lot of happy customers. Your experience was not representitive of everyone elses'.

The current "service techniques" are above and beyond by my experience. Sorry, you got bad luck!

Boxsprings dont just break in 3 spots, sounds like you need a better frame, did you get a new frame with your purchase or did you tell the sales person, mines fine, its just a bed frame, right, WRONG. If you crash your car does the dealership replace it, no.

Mattress Giant SpringAir Mattress: Brand New Defective Mattress

First, Mattress Giant won't take this mattress back with tags and mattress pad cover on it, as their policy supposedly states..even though it is uncomfortable and I expressed this to the store manager. Instead, he supposedly put in a warranty claim to SpringAir and said within 10 days I'd receive a packet to fill out. Haven't seen it or heard a word. I bought a BRAND NEW luxury Spring Air mattress that sags in the middle. sigh... I am not getting any satisfaction from Mattress Giant, or Spring Air - This is totally unacceptable service and I am appalled with my purchase and would never reccomend either one to anybody. tracesart@***.com

I went thru so much *** with them that I think I deserve more than just my refund. You can reach me at my email address: bheygirl@***.com.

Good luck and thank you.

This is not Mattress Giants fault. This is a defective mattress.

It is Spring Airs responsibility to replace it. Not Mattress Giants. Spring air manufactures them.

Every Mattress Company works the same. Just fill out the paper work and you will get a new bed.

I'm a former DM for these guys. It's funny, because nobody reads the warranty.

Statement above is true. The warranty is thru the mattress maker. Not the seller. Look at it like this, if you bought a new TV at Sears and in 2yrs it went bad.

Does Sears give you a new TV and deliver it for free? No, they don't. But when the cheap bastards come into the store wanting the cheapest bed they can get, you get what you pay for. Most people will spend more on the flat screen they have.

It doesn't work like that with any other product. So why do you expect it to apply to a mattress set?
